Club Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct for Players & Management

Kilteely Dromkeen is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club must, at all times show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of everybody. Therefore all members are encouraged to be open at all times and share any concerns or complaints that may have with their Club Officers.

Players within the Club must

1.1              Kilteely Dromkeen is a Hurling and Football club. Both games and dual players must be supported by all members and respected for their commitment to both games and the demands this requires.

1.2              Play by the rules, therefore you respect the rights, dignity and worth of all and treat everyone equitably.

1.3              Senior players must act responsibly and show good example to the young players in the club.

1.4              Never argue with an official. If you need clarification, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the match.

1.5              Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Your team’s performance will benefit – so will you.

1.6              Co-operate with your coach, team-mates and opponents.  It is a managements’ job to pick the team as they see fit and there are no selection policies in the club at senior player level.

1.7              When you play for a club team you are willing to be a member of a panel whether you are number 1 or 30.  If you have an issue with management over team selection you may discuss it with the management team as a unit at a training session or game.  It is not acceptable to approach a member of the management team or a club officer individually to criticise team selection. Approach them as a group instead.

1.8              If a player has an issue with management, training, team preparation or feels he is not getting a fair hearing from management, a player has the option to approach the club senior officers.

1.9              For training and matches all players warm-up, train and play as a team.

1.10          The use of foul language and the verbal abuse of match officials, fellow team-mates, opponents or team mentors is not acceptable on the pitch or in dressing rooms.

1.11          Respect the club jersey at all times.  You wear the jersey with pride and remember you are representing your parish team, not yourself.

1.12          Keeping your discipline on the field is imperative.  Any player found to be consistently receiving yellow/red cards or guilty of indiscipline may be disciplined by the management up to and including being asked to step down from the panel.

1.13          Players that consistently show a lack of respect for the jersey, fellow team-mates or management may be asked to step down from the panel.

Declaration

This code of conduct applies to all Hurling & Football players at Minor, U-21 and Junior levels.  Failure to abide by this Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action being taken by the club committee.  Any player found in breach of this code may be asked to step down as a player for the club.  The final decision will rest with the club committee.
